Don’t Make These Horrible Mistakes
As discus is a schooling fish, so one discus fish needs a minimum of 4 numbers of other healthy companions to live comfortably in a tank.
1.
Discus may turn into black color due to lack of companion sometimes.
The Drip Acclimation Method is the right way to acclimate discus. However, this process takes time.

Discus is a sophisticated fish. So it needs to acclimate the right way. Otherwise discus gets stress from it
Bacteria like Aeromonas hydrophila attacks discus fish frequently.

Spironucleus spp, ichthyophthirius multifiliis are two parasites that are responsible for it.
Discus turns black due to fungal infection by Fusarium solani, F. moniliform and F. oxysporum.
Bad water parameters refer to water temperature, ammonia & chlorine level, high detritus material, wrong pH level, & so on.

In mother tank, other discus may give stress to that sick discus.
1.
The isolation period is the must when the discus fish is sick and its body colour is turning black.
Sick discus may not live for months if it is not separated as soon as possible.
PH level – 6.0-7.0 Temperature – 28°C to 31°C Water hardness – 18 ppm to 70 ppm Chlorine level – 0.001 ppm to 0.003 ppm Ammonia level – 0 ppm Nitrite level – 0 ppm

Adequate water & air circulation. However, the circulation should not be haphazard. Air stone can be used here.

Background of the tank should be light in colour (light blue preferable).
Adding substrate is not mandatory here.
Use siphone and scrubber to remove detritus and algae from the parent aquarium.

After removing the sick fish, mother tank should be cleaned well.
80% of the water change is necessary here.
Epsom Salt helps to clear the digestive system and increase the appetite of fish

The Epsom salt bath is required for the discus which is turning black. Due to this, fish becomes healthy enough.
This is the last option that you can use to revive the sick discus.

Metronidazole is a medicine that helps to cure bacterial or parasitic diseases of fish. There is another medicine named Dimetridazole.
