The minimum tank size should be 10-gallon. Bigger is always better
3 guppies alone = 4 gallons 4 guppies = 4 gallons 5 guppies = 5 gallons
Each guppy tank should house trios of individual fish in a ratio of 1:3 males to females
For a bigger group females should be more to control aggresion.
A sandy substrate is better because of its fine texture.
Crushed coral, gravel can be used too. However, the gravel size should be big here.
An expensive filtration system isn't required because they don't produce a huge bioload.
A cheap sponge filter can be used
Recommendation for Nano Tank Filters
To keep guppies healthy having live plants in the tank is important.
Java moss, guppy grass are two great choices for a guppy tank. These provide lots of covers.
pH should lie between 5.5-8.5. However, it should be between 7.0-7.2
72⁰F – 84⁰F is the most preferable temperature with zero ammonia.
Guppies are mostly top dwellers so the tank needs bottom dwellers. Corydoras can be a great option.
Mollies, Swordtails, Rasboras, neon tetras can be some good options too.
Guppies prefer to eat live food i.e. brine shrimp, bloodworms, daphnia etc.
Guppies eat vegetables like tomato, spinach & commercial food like pellets, flakes
